 Day 1: From the city of San Jose we set out through the Braulio Carillo National Park towards the Caribbean coast -- destination: Samasati. Once at Samasati, you can relax and soak in the large Jacuzzi while watching the sunset.

Day 2: CACAO TRAIL TOUR. Visit a corn plantation, a cacao plantation, a botanical garden, a medicinal garden and an iguana farm, all part of the Cacao Trail Park. The tour also includes exploring the Park’s canals in a canoe all the way up to the adjacent Cahuita National Park. After walking through Cahuita National Park and visiting a turtle’s nesting beach, you will enjoy a Caribbean style buffet lunch.

Day 3: INDIGENOUS RESERVES TOUR. The western region of Samasati Natural Retreat is bordered by the Bribri Indigenous Reserve. Further into the forest and higher into the mountains are the Cabecar and Kekoldi Indigenous Reserves. The Cabecar, Kekoldi and Bribri Indians are among the oldest inhabitants of Costa Rica. Their community and culture are intact and have been hidden from the curiosity of the average tourist. More than 600 native people live in the reservations, keeping alive ancient knowledge on the use of plants and natural resources. During this tour you will also have the opportunity to visit Volio waterfall. Please remember that sustainable tourism is vital to the survival of these tribes.

Day 4: SHAMAN'S TOUR. A 40-minute drive will take you to the heart of the Bribri Indigenous Reserve in Suretka. After crossing the Sixaola river on a small boat, a 30-minute ride will bring you to the area where two shamans of the Bribri’s tribe live and practice their traditional medicine. You will be able to ask questions and visit the “healing house,” a sacred space where rituals and healing sessions take place.

Day 5: Free day, shuttle to the beach available.
