Costa Rica is one of the most bio- diverse countries on earth. 

One of the main reasons for the bio-diversity is the country's location between North and South America, enabling plants and animals from both continents and the Antilles (Caribbean Islands) to establish themselves here. 

Costa Rica has within its borders more than 6 percent of all animal and plants species know to exist . In addition, the country has 527 endangered plant species and 57 animal species that are critically endangered, or vulnerable to becoming endangered. Including turtles, manatees, toucans, jaguars, primates and sea otters. Visitors can get up close and personal  with many of these species on the Caribbean Coast, through the various excursions offered.

Costa Rica is big on preserving biodiversity. perhaps no other country has embraced ecotourism the way Costa Rica has. While many nearby countries are hoping that industrialization will spur their economies, Costa Rica is managing responsible growth by protecting its environment and its remarkable biodiversity.
