What we will cover:
Techniques, Training and Practice
Working with each posture from our basic posture list we will learn how to practice them and how to safely teach them to a wide range of students. We will explore various traditions of yoga and the art and science of teaching. We will also work to refine our personal practice and delve deeper into the understanding of the self through the body.
We will seek our unique voice and perspective on the practice of yoga. We will explore methods of communication, demonstration, assisting and supporting students in their practice. We will use music and literature to enhance our classes and give intention to our teaching.
Anatomy and Physiology
Understanding to body from the inside out gives us an intimate view of our students and their struggles. We will verbally dissect the human body in relation to western and eastern anatomy. We will explore the body systems, and organs as well as chakras, nadis, koshas. and vayus.
Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics
We will be immersed in yogic living from the moment we meet to begin this journey. As the training progresses, we will discuss philosophy and ethics from the yoga teacher’s perspective focusing on Pantanjali’s Eight Limb Path of Yoga
The best way to become a yoga teacher is to teach yoga. You will begin practice teaching on October 13. With a lot of support and love, each of us will teach from where we are and open ourselves to the feedback from our peers who are on this journey with us. Discussions on the business aspects of yoga will come near the end of our immersion.
